Organizational context

Agro-Pastoral Charity Organization (APCO) is a local non-governmental, non-profit-making organisation founded in 1998 that supports vulnerable populations affected by humanitarian crises in Somalia. APCO provides continued support to vulnerable communities by ensuring the sustainability of post-crisis interventions and addressing the long-term challenges facing our target populations — breaking the poverty cycle, fostering development and reducing vulnerability to disasters. In partnership with the Somalia Humanitarian Fund (SHF), APCO is implementing a nutrition project titled “Lifesaving Nutrition response for underserved communities impacted by climatic shocks in Sablaale District, Lower Shabelle Region, Somalia”, delivered through one fixed nutrition site in Buulo Doonka and two mobile outreach teams serving Mud Kalmooy, Halimayal, Caanawaa and Yaadjile villages. APCO is therefore looking for a MEAL officer who is professionally confident, self-motivated, experienced and committed.

The Role

The MEAL Officer leads monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning for the nutrition project, ensuring quality data and timely, accurate reporting against the project targets (4,500 children screened, 1,490 SAM admissions, 2,300 PLW screened).

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the project MEAL plan, including indicators and monitoring tools.

• Conduct routine monitoring, data collection and data-quality assessments across the fixed site and outreach sites.

• Manage the project database and oversee digital data collection using KOBO Toolbox.

• Track project performance indicators and analyse progress against targets.

• Oversee the use of MoH reporting tools and ensure that project reports are submitted on time.

• Manage beneficiary feedback and complaints tracking and support accountability to affected people.

• Support evidence-based decision-making and project learning.

• Any other tasks assigned by the line manager.

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in statistics, public health, social sciences or a related field.

• Minimum of 3 years’ MEAL experience in humanitarian or nutrition programmes.

• Proficiency in KOBO Toolbox and data-quality assurance.

• Familiarity with MoH reporting tools and nutrition indicators.

• Strong data analysis, reporting and computer skills.

• Fluency in Somali is required; well-written English is an added value.

How to apply

If you are passionate and meet the above qualifications and experience, please send your CV to the APCO HR Officer by email to info@agropastoral.org, or drop your application at the APCO office on or before 21st September 2026. Physical address: Waaberi Mall, 3rd floor | Maka Al Mukarama Street, Mogadishu, Somalia. Alternatively, you may apply directly on the APCO webpage in the career section.
