Background Information
Agro Pastoral Charity Organization abbreviated as APCO is a National
humanitarian organization working in Somalia since its establishment in the year

  1. APCO is a non-profit making organization to address and mitigate the
    effects of biting natural and man-made disasters and the socio-economic
    problems in Somalia. It is an initiative formed to resist prolonged insecurity and
    droughts in Somalia and the increased lack of humanitarian access and
    humanitarian services to victims in Somalia.
    APCO targets vulnerable beneficiaries both in urban and rural areas through
    life-saving activities through emergency response, recovery, livelihoods, and
    developmental activities. With regards to the absence of the socio-economic
    infrastructure and the systems of governance and institutions which led to the
    collapse of livelihoods and all the basic services of many communities. The
    organization also focuses on governance projects of peacebuilding and
    development initiatives. APCO since its inception and mutual partnerships with
    global development and local partners has been able to implement humanitarian
    protection activities in collaboration with its stakeholders.
    In partnership with Somali Humanitarian Fund (SHF), APCO is implementing a
    Nutrition program, titled Provision of lifesaving nutrition assistance for droughtaffected population in Afgoye district, Lower Shabelle. So, APCO is looking for
    a professionally confident, self-motivated, experienced and committed team
    player to fill the Nutrition project manager.
    Overall Job Purpose
    Registrars will be responsible registration of acutely malnourished child and
    PLW women, do follow-up for discharge, defaulters, deaths and referrals.
    Duties and Responsibilities
    The Registrar will be required to conduct sensitization and MUAC (middle upper
    arm circumference) screening of Pregnant and lactating women (PLW) and
    children under 5 years.
    The nutrition Registrar will screen, tally, register and coordinate the screening
    of children to verify their age at the distribution point, the nutrition
    screener/register Additionally is required to train the Nutrition volunteers.
    S/he will be tasked to report to the nutrition officer on distribution requirement
    update.
    The nutrition Registrar will collaborate with other INGOs/LNGOs on nutrition
    activities and to refer children identified with SAM and provide technical support
    to the nutrition assistant.
    S/he will be required to mainstream the nutritional activities in line with APCO
    standards with regard to Infant and Young Child feeding (IYCF) programs.
    The nutrition Registrar will also provide guidance to (IYCF Groups) on policy
    and methodologies to enhance service delivery at the Host community and camp
    level.
    The Nutrition Registrar is required to possess significant experience in interagency coordination in the management of complex field-based operations and
    emergencies, good knowledge of program management and solid experience in
    the technical field of OTP.
    The nutrition Registrar is expected to have the competencies of a skilful leader
    in guiding and supporting staff, addressing various operational challenges, along
    with increasing security concerns.
    Required Skills and Experience
  • A diploma in Nurse, Public health, or another related field is required.
  • Experience in the area of nutrition promotion and addressing malnutrition.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the same position.
  • Previous experience in NGOs/Donor funded programs is preferred.
  • Working experience of one year in IMAM or Maternal and Child Health
    program
  • Excellent written and spoken skills in English
  • Experience in nutrition programs and community work.
  • Good relations with other people.
  • Good capacity to work in a team and flexibility.
  • Excellent communication (written and oral), editing, and advocacy skills
  • Computer literate in (Microsoft Word, excel, and PowerPoint
    presentation.)
  • Effective interpersonal skills
